Anna & Kingman | A Thousand Paper Cranes at The Red Barn, Norfolk
Creative wedding photography · Norfolk · East Midlands & beyond
“Hand on heart that the final results blew us away. It’s obvious to us that Clare is a natural storyteller - she captured real moments and their true beauty. The story of our big day definitely unfolded with each shot we saw, and she noticed so many things that both me and my wife didn’t even spot on the day.”
Some weddings you photograph. And some weddings you feel.
Anna and Kingman's was absolutely the latter.
I first met this wonderful pair at a mutual friend's wedding a few years back and then got to see them again when I photographed another friend's big day. So when they asked me to be their wedding photographer too, I was absolutely over the moon. These two are some of the kindest, most creative, most genuinely lovely humans I've ever had the pleasure of knowing & their wedding was a perfect reflection of exactly that.
Say hello to Mr & Mrs Cheng…
The setting was the stunning Red Barn in Norfolk, a venue that feels like it was made for people who do things a little differently. And Anna and Kingman absolutely did things differently, in the most beautiful way.
The ceremony backdrop? A silver birch frame hung with just some of the 1,000 hand-folded paper cranes that filled the barn. One thousand. I'll let that sink in. The care, the intention, the sheer creativity that went into every corner of this day was breathtaking and it showed in every single frame.
The flowers were provided by the incredibly talented Little Norfolk Flower. Anna's bouquet was a wild, romantic mix of ferns, palms and the most enormous peonies I have ever seen in my life. The botanicals flowed through the whole day, softening the beautiful rustic bones of the barn into something that felt like a dream.
And then there was the arrival. Anna pulled up in her uncle's bright blue VW Beetle, popping against the iconic red of the barn roof adorned with the very same bunting that had been strung at both of their friends' weddings before them. That kind of detail? That's the stuff that makes a wedding feel like a story rather than just an event.
This is exactly the kind of wedding that reminds me why I do what I do. Not just documenting a day, but capturing the love and creativity that two people have poured into every single detail — so they can relive it, properly, for the rest of their lives.
If you're planning a creative, relaxed, you-shaped wedding in Norfolk, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, or anywhere across the East Midlands and you want a photographer who'll notice the things even you might miss on the day, then I'd genuinely love to hear from you.
